Hoya ‘Noona’

Origin and Description:

Hoya ‘Noona’ is an adorable and compact hybrid believed to be a cross between Hoya davidcummingii and Hoya heuschkeliana. It features small, oval to oblong green leaves that trail delicately along slender vines. What makes this variety extra special are its charming, cup-shaped yellow flowers that often bloom in tight clusters. The blooms are lightly fragrant and have a warm, cheerful appearance that matches its petite stature.

Natural Habitat:

As a cultivated hybrid, Hoya ‘Noona’ doesn’t have a natural habitat, but it thrives in conditions similar to those of its parent species—warm, humid, and filtered tropical environments.

Care Instructions:

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. A bit of gentle morning sun can help with blooming, but avoid intense direct sun, which can scorch its delicate leaves.
  • Watering: Let the soil dry out nearly completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common issue—use a well-draining mix and keep the pot breathable.
  • Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity (50–70%). It can tolerate average indoor humidity but will appreciate a boost during dry seasons.
  • Temperature: Best kept in 65–85°F (18–29°C). Avoid cold drafts or exposure to temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
  • Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining mix such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir to simulate its natural epiphytic conditions.
