Hoya ‘Manow’
Origin and Description:
Hoya ‘Manow’ is one of four special seedlings selected by Larisa, a friend of the Hoya community, who personally visited Patcharawalai, a well-known Hoya grower. Larisa had the opportunity to choose her favorite seedlings from a batch grown by Patcharawalai. She was given permission to name these selections, and Hoya ‘Manow’ was named after Patcharawalai’s youngest daughter. The other three seedlings were named Prikati, Yenyen, and Elephant.
Natural Habitat:
As a cultivated hybrid, the exact parentage of Hoya ‘Manow’ remains unknown, as even Patcharawalai did not keep a record of the parent plants. It thrives in warm, humid environments similar to other Hoyas, and as a hybrid, it adapts well to a variety of conditions.
Care Instructions:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light.
- Watering: Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
- Humidity: High humidity is beneficial, though it can tolerate lower levels.
- Temperature: Ideal temperatures range between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C).
Fun Fact:
Hoya ‘Manow’ is part of a unique selection of Hoyas, all personally named by Larisa. Alongside Manow, the other seedlings chosen were named after Patcharawalai’s eldest daughter (Prikati), her dog (Yenyen), and Elephant, a plant named for its large leaves. The story behind these names adds a personal and endearing touch to this Hoya’s history.
