Hoya LP014 (erythrina x davidcummingii)

Origin and Description:

Hoya LP014 is a beautiful hybrid created by Hoangphong Lam in Vietnam using Hoya erythrina × Hoya davidcummingii. This hybrid combines some of the best qualities of both parents, resulting in a compact yet striking plant with beautifully textured foliage and vibrant blooms.

The leaves are elongated with noticeable protruding veins that give the foliage a sculpted, almost quilted appearance when grown under the right conditions. The foliage stays relatively compact and thick when provided with brighter conditions, while lower light can cause the leaves to grow larger, thinner, and lose much of their defining texture. Its blooms are equally eye-catching, producing clusters of soft yellow flowers blushed with peachy pink tones and fuzzy petals that give the umbel a velvety appearance.

Overall, this is an easy and rewarding hybrid that brings together attractive foliage and colorful blooms in one plant.

Natural Habitat:

As a cultivated hybrid, Hoya LP014 does not occur naturally in habitat. However, both parent species originate from tropical Southeast Asia, where they grow epiphytically in warm, humid forests with filtered light and steady airflow.

• Light:
  Bright, indirect light is best. This is especially important for maintaining the protruding veins and compact foliage. Too little light can result in bigger, thinner leaves that lose much of their texture and defining characteristics.
• Watering:
  Allow the medium to dry between waterings. Keeping it slightly on the drier side helps maintain the leaf texture and structure.
• Humidity:
  Easy to grow and does not require high humidity to perform well, though increased humidity can help speed up growth.
• Temperature:
  Prefers warm temperatures between 65–85°F for best growth.
• Soil:
  A chunky, well-draining mix such as coco husk blends works best to support healthy roots and airflow.
