Dive into the lush Solomon Islands with Hoya flavida, a captivating addition to any plant collection. This unique species was first described in 1993, discovered in the tropical embrace of Mt. Gallego. Its origins trace back to these remote islands, offering a piece of exotic paradise for your home.

Hoya flavida thrives as a climbing epiphyte, showcasing its resilience and adaptability in the wild. What sets it apart are its remarkable, nectar-free blooms—a trait not commonly found in the Hoya family. This characteristic means less mess and more enjoyment of its beautiful flowers.

Please Note: The Hoya flavida you receive might not feature the sun-stressed reddened leaves often admired in photographs. Each plant varies, and achieving that vibrant look requires a bright, sunny environment. Let’s embrace the natural beauty and individuality of each plant as we welcome them into our homes.

Care Needs

Bright Light

No barrier between the plant and the light source. Ex: Directly under a grow light, in a sunny window with no curtains or trees.

Low Humidity: Ideally Above 40%

This Hoya tolerates a drier environment. However, it could still benefit from light humidity care, including misting and grouping together with other houseplants. May require humidifier in cooler, drier months.

Loves Heat: Lowest 70F/21C

This hoya does not do well in cold conditions, so be sure to keep in a greenhouse or other temperature controlled space.

Does Sunstress

This plant has evolved to shift color when exposed to bright sunlight, much like a human getting a tan. This does not harm the plant with proper care.
