6 SEEDS - Hoya ‘Tequila Sunrise’ x Hoya caudata
Shipping Information
Every seed order includes FREE USPS Priority Mail shipping.
If you’d like additional shipment security and faster transit times, a FedEx upgrade is available during checkout.
Please note that lost seed shipments sent via USPS are not covered. Hoya seeds are living material and remain viable for only a limited period of time. While we carefully package and ship fresh seed, we cannot guarantee germination on seed packets that experience shipping delays, extended transit times, or are lost in the mail. If shipping speed and security are important to you, we highly recommend selecting the FedEx upgrade.
This is a cross between Hoya ‘Tequila Sunrise’ (MB1280-H) and Hoya caudata, and honestly, I made this one because I love both of these plants so much.
You guys already know I love a good sunstressed Hoya, and ‘Tequila Sunrise’ is one of those plants that just gets better with bright light. The colors it develops always remind me a little bit of the holidays, with those warm reds, greens, and deeper tones coming through.
Then there’s Hoya caudata. I love pretty much anything caudata. The foliage is already so unique on its own, and the flowers are absolutely beautiful, so crossing these two felt like something I just had to try.
I’m especially curious to see what happens with the blooms. I would LOVE to get seedlings that produce flowers close to that classic caudata look. As for the foliage, I honestly don’t have one specific outcome in mind. I’m just excited to see what these two genetics do together.
That curiosity is really what made me make this cross. I love both parents for completely different reasons, and I can’t wait to see what their seedlings end up looking like.
Every seedling is a brand-new plant that has never existed before.

Open Pollinated vs. Hand Pollinated
Open Pollinated Seeds
Open-pollinated seeds have an unknown pollen donor. While we know the seed parent, we don’t know which nearby plant contributed the pollen. This creates an element of mystery and often results in exciting surprises.
Hand Pollinated Seeds
Hand-pollinated seeds have both parents intentionally selected and documented. The goal is not to create exact copies of the parents, but to increase the likelihood that desirable traits may appear in the offspring.
Neither method is better than the other. Open-pollinated seeds offer mystery and discovery, while hand-pollinated seeds provide a more intentional breeding direction. Both can produce extraordinary plants.
What If You Grow Something Phenomenal?
One of my favorite things about releasing seed is knowing that the next incredible Hoya might not be discovered in our greenhouse. It might be discovered in yours.
If one of your seedlings grows into something truly special, here’s what I recommend:
1. Add Your Own Accession Number
Take the UPT accession number assigned to this cross and add your own identifier to the end.
For example:
UPT2604-AM01
Many growers use their initials followed by a numbering system.
This creates a permanent record showing that you were the grower who selected and developed that particular seedling. If it is ever shared, traded, propagated, or sold in the future, others can trace its history back to you.
2. Give It a Name
Found something unique? Give it a name!
For example:
Hoya ‘Venice’ (UPT2604-AM01)
Single quotation marks should be used for cultivars.
3. Share It With Us! (Optional)
We would absolutely love to see what you grow.
If one of your seedlings develops into something extraordinary, send us a photo! We’d be honored to feature it on our page and give proper credit to you as the grower.
After all, one of the best parts of this hobby is celebrating each other’s successes. We get excited seeing what comes out of these crosses, and we’d love the opportunity to be excited right alongside you.
