Origin and Description:

Hoya ‘Mathilde’ is a charming hybrid between Hoya serpens and Hoya carnosa, combining the best traits of both parents. This variety has small, round, succulent leaves that grow densely along trailing vines. In the splash variety, the leaves are flecked with silver, creating a beautifully speckled appearance. It’s a compact, vining Hoya known for its adorable foliage and ease of care.

Natural Habitat:

As a cultivated hybrid, Hoya ‘Mathilde’ does not exist in the wild. However, its care needs are similar to those of its parent species, which originate from humid, forested regions in Southeast Asia.

Care Instructions:

• Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Some direct morning sun can help maintain splash patterns but too much intense sun may scorch the leaves.
• Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so a well-draining mix is essential.
• Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity (50-70%). It can adapt to average indoor humidity but will thrive with added moisture.
• Temperature: Best kept between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
• Soil: Use a well-draining mix such as orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir to encourage healthy roots and prevent waterlogging.
