We personally picked this clone up during our Indonesia trip in early 2026. At the time, the grower mentioned that he was still cultivating and observing the plant to determine how stable the mutation would be over time, but entrusted us to continue growing and testing it in our own environment.

After months of growing it here in the Unsolicited Plant Talks greenhouses, the plant has continued to consistently produce deep dark red foliage without needing supplemental grow lights or excessively bright growing conditions. This gives it a very different appearance compared to the typical green foliage associated with most lacunosa forms.

The leaves remain compact and elegant like traditional Hoya lacunosa, but the rich red coloration gives the plant an almost unreal look, especially as the vines mature and cascade.

Natural Habitat:

The original Hoya lacunosa species is native to Southeast Asia, where it grows epiphytically in warm, humid forests with filtered light and good airflow.

Care Instructions:

The care for this plant is similar to other Hoya lacunosa varieties:

Light:
Bright, indirect light is ideal.
